TEHRAN (NIPNA) -- Managing Director of Persian Gulf Petrochemical Industries Company (PGPIC) Adel Nejad-Salim said activities are on the go Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company and the facility's production is not interrupted because of a fire that took over its BDSR unit on Saturday.
The fire was immediately contained in the wee hours of Sunday after firefighting took to the scene and took timely actions to control the incident.
No fatalities or casualties are reported in the incident.
The inferno took place after the domino of petrochemical and energy incidents in Iran since last month. In the worst case of the accidents, Bou Ali Sina Petrochemical Plant, at the heart of Mahshahr PETZONE in the southwestern province of Khuzestan, was gripped by a raging blaze in its Para xylene unit.
Earlier on Sunday, Marziyeh Shahdaie, managing director of National Petrochemical Company (NPC), said the fire was fully contained.
Bandar Imam Petrochemical Company is a petrochemical facility in Mahshahr PETZONE and its products are ethane, butane, propane, ethylene, pentane, gasoline pyrolysis, crude residue, xyelens, rafinite, heavy aromatics and Paraxylene (PX). It is the first major producer of petrochemical products in Iran for its high production capacity.
The complex owns three subsidiary companies, namely Bandar Imam Processing Company, Kimia and Besparan.
